How to view the photo gallery
The photo galley is kind of tricky to view. Internet hackers entered our site earlier this year and so we've created a gallery on a separate web page in its own domain to isolate future problems. To view pictures in the gallery, click on "Photo Gallery" to the left of this message. You'll come to a screen with a picture of a high speed gunboat. Click on it. Then, when the picture reappears, click on it again. You'll then enter the gallery and its multiple albums. Place your curser on top of the album name and it will appear readable and you can click on it to enter the specific album you wish to see.Once in an album you can enlarge the picture by clicking once on it. If you click again on it, it will return to its smaller size. After a picture is enlarged, you can click the advance arrow to the next image and it too will appear enlarged for best detail. Enjoy!
About the Admirals R/C Model Boat Club
You don't need prior knowledge of R/C modeling to join our club. The Admirals welcomes anyone with an interest in nautical subjects and model boat and ship building. We invite you to visit one of our regular monthly meetings to see and learn about our club....no obligations.
Membership is open to all. We have senior memberships for those 17 years old and older and junior memberships for those less than 17 years old. We especially encourage younger members so that we may share our knowledge. Most monthly meetings are conducted on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM at the Nora Public Library meeting room. Our meeting place for May and December has not been established. The meeting is kept informal for the most part to allow the free exchange of information and to examine the models brought for display. We demonstrate a variety of techniques related to model ship building and conduct programs of general interest as well. Our members build and operate scale merchant ships, pleasure craft, work boats, military ships, sailboats, and just about anything that floats or submerges, in the case of submarine models. Many are built from kits and some are built from plans and photographs. The models are powered by electric motors, steam engines, or wind power for all the sailboats.
We organize weekend day trip tours in the Midwest to various places of interest to our model ship builders. Our members regularly compete in model boat and ship contests at the regional and national level with documented success.
In late spring throughout the summer and into fall we conduct monthly sailing regattas for the AMYA One Meter class and V-32 class sailboats. Our sailing skippers can usually be found pondside every Saturday between 1 and 3 PM at our sailing venue which varies month by month. Contact me (below) for the current venue. Our scale boat running is done at the Carmel Reflecting Pond. This is by far one of the best model boat running facilities in the nation! This football field size pond is three feet deep with weed free filtered water.
We participate in both formal and informal shows and fun run events throughout the year at malls and our annual mid-winter fun run at the Carmel High School Natatorium in January and/or February.
If you have an interest in our club and its events, please accept our sincere invitation to visit with us at your next opportunity.
Fair winds and following seas. We look forward to seeing you soon!
